Okay, colour me curious (in a soon-to-be-slain-like-a-cat fashion): what fandom/fic are we talking about in particular? Because I'm nodding away at the general applications of the rant to, well, popular Western culture full stop - but clearly this was inspired by something specific. Would you mind giving me a link/clue?

This is an awesome rant. I think I learnt something from it, and there are definitely people around me who need to pointed at it, if I may? I'm sorry things are bad enough to push you into ranting, but the result is so well-written and argued, and I want it to knock sense into as many people as possible so rants like this will be less needed in future.
