Strawberries with Orange Buttermilk Shortcake

Hey, I haven't talked about the farmer's market lately and I think it's time again since the variety of produce has increased dramatically. We have squash, and green beans, and yellow beans, along with peas, strawberries, rhubarb, garlic scapes, cucumbers, kohlrabi, lettuce, spinach, beets (with their greens) and potatoes. Ooh. I'd be very interested in hearing more about both the buttermilk beet soup and the stuffed squash (with cheese and chipotle). Those both sound yummy.

The buttermilk beet soup is a variation on this recipe I posted last year. As for the squash, I'm planning on doing it like this only with chipotle instead of jalapeno.

Both recipes are good enough that I keep going back to them and making variations on a theme. And that's saying something since I forget more recipes after making them than I ever make twice.

Well heck. This makes me want to devise some sort of transport system which all this yumminess would survive. Where are the scientists on the Star Trek transporter idea? Surely someone is working on this? What? Make it yourself, you say? You've even given me the recipe, you point out? But a transporter would be so much more convenient...

Heh. You get working on that! That would totally be easier than making your own biscuits. And maybe a TARDIS while you're at it so that you can go back and get the food before we eat it. :)

I don't think Chicklet would appreciate that. *g* What you need to do is come close enough for me to feed you. I do that with anyone nearby who sits still long enough.
