A Time to Change

In her office, Sasha brooded over the stack of sealed letters before her. A few held warnings, passing the intelligence of her network to those who could benefit--and, in benefitting, would further her interests. Most, though, held requests; Ali had been withdrawing from the mortal world, Sasha saw, and the Glamour in Boston now was heady and strong. Bedlam was a danger for the Duchess, and for those in the city. She didn't need to consult her oracular gifts to know that someone falling prey to the dream-madness was an inevetability. So it was that she began gathering lore now, in the hopes of finding a cure before it was needed.

And, if she was to be honest with herself, a few of those letters were overtures to various masters of the Arts, those who might be willing to share some of their knowledge with her. Sasha had watched Ali's swift mastery of her magics over these past few years, and realized how much she, herself, had stagnated. She had rested on her laurels long enough; time once again to be the world's student.

Stagnation. Once she had admitted it to herself, she could not limit her view to her spellwork. She had lived in the same house for near to sixty years, surrounded by the same trappings, the same decor, the same everything. Even Ali's arrival, her soulmate, her better half, had had only an insignificant impact upon the household. She had been too caught in a rut, too set in her ways, to realize before. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair to her or the rest of the family, and it was even providing ammunition to Ali's political detractors.

Well, no longer; rising, she went in search of her wife. "Ali, love, do you have a moment?"
