It's a castoff from HL, when I was trying to figure out if Michael would be in it, with Nicky in jail, but in HL Nicky wasn't a serial killer, but the king of racketeering, and it just didn't fit in the overall story. But I thought it might still be a cool jumping board for an FBI AU.
True story: every SPN-related conversation I have gives me a crack! plot bunny. But by crack, I mean a-crack-concept-not-played-as-crack, because that's (usually) how I roll.
So, it amuses me that you get crime thriller plot bunnies, while I think about rewriting the crackiest of all fandom tropes. *g*
I figure it could work for any pairing or gen fic, with an AU twist on the apocalyptic battle between two brothers. Maybe Sam was the prosecutor who put Nicky away, or maybe he and Dean were the Feds who arrested him and gathered the evidence against him, and some legalese about how Nicky walking free throws all their other cases into question.
did you ever read trinityofone's Immigration Songs, which was all about cracky fandom tropes played straight? Very very good.
I actually don't get plot bunnies very often. Sometimes I'll almost love a fic and have to rewrite in my head how it could have gone better.
I believe I read Immigration Songs, but I don't remember it too well at the moment.
I like libraryofsol a lot, but I think it's less "played straight" and more "played with a straight face." "Destiel" might be favorite baby fic of all time, though I think that mostly speaks to my numerous issues with baby fic.
I have 6000 more bunnies than I can write. They're either crack or "this show should have ladies!" or "fandom's doing this trope wrong!" Half of them are even good ideas. It sucks that I'm such a ridiculously slow writer (although I write *frequently* enough).
