I don't know if it's because I spend more time on tumblr and shit now or what, but I've been seeing a lot of senseless hating on female characters in fandom. And it's a) really fucking annoying and b) really fucking ridiculous. Either it's hating on characters we haven't even seen yet, but are resisting just because...they are being cast? Because

Yeah, that's the worst. When people act like the existence of a female (in a relationship with the dude or not) is somehow going to threaten their ability to write slash fic. Because it...wasn't fictional before? So illogical and unnecessary. Especially when it's a TV show or movie, actually, because then jealously is even harder to use as an excuse. The characters aren't real. This whole thing is already fiction. People need to just calm down for a second and remember that.
