I am currently alternating between reading The Subtle Knife (very good) and information about food hygiene, so that I can confidently claim that I know how not to give people food poisoning when I come to do the catering scheme thingy. Apparently drying dishes with a tea-towel that lives in the dog's basket is not considered the done thing. Who ( Read more... )

Reminds me of a few months ago when they confidently announced on the BBC News that the way to sterilise your dishcloths, etc, was to put them in the microwave for 2 minutes.

A few hours later, they posted a message to the effect that one _shouldn't_ do this unless said dishcloths were wet, as apparently fire brigades had been kept busy all day visiting microwave fires caused by people putting dry cloths into theirs....
