I did two things today which I have not done in quite a while. The first thing was taking a walk down to the river near my house. That place has been a refuge for me to think for years. I have a few favourite spots along the bank; usually secluded hills surrounded by trees. I generally find Winnipeg flat and depressing, but there are spots of ( Read more... )

The New Zealand thing reminds me of my grandparents old house. My grandpa built it himself on a patch of land on the West Coast, Vancouver Island. The property is smack in the middle of a large provincial park and an excellent example of rainforest. The trees are huge and it smells like cedar all the time. A path out back meandered through the forest and down to the coast, where one could often find seals lounging on the rocks. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been to, and I hesitate to say it may be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Needless to say, I loved going there as a child. :)

What you mention about memories and 'hauntings' is exactly what I was thinking, as well. I'll have more thoughts on that later.

You listen to your intuition, I would think. The more science you explore, the more you realize that the concepts and theories on the very edge of modern thinking are essentially indistinguishable from things which have often been considered witchcraft, magic or science fiction. Time travel, ghosts, telepathy, premonitions and aliens all have decent footing in real, hard science as far as I'm concerned. My brain isn't very mathematical and it's hard to grasp the actual science, however I would love to delve into it more some day.

My grandparents place is idyllic. It still exists, and they only live a few miles away, but the house itself is owned by someone else now.
