Fic Commentary: Gravity

Sep 06, 2007 21:27

Here goes.

Gravity began as a personal challenge. I had just gotten back into Mohinder/Sylar, as a ship - truth be told, I’d watched Heroes from the beginning (mostly because it was just before Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), but I didn’t really get into the show until the last few episodes, when it kind of hit me that whoa, this show is ( Read more... )

Aww, you only added the insights into your thoughts, and not all the good stuff. As in our conversations that usually start with, "Kat, how easily can you steal drugs from a hospital?" or "Kat, how does radiation disperse after a nuclear explosion?" or "Kat, how do you stitch up a wound with no medical supplies?" or "Kat, do you think this works in this section?" or "Kat, read through this for me...please?!". Yeah, there was none of that. *smirks*

You know I love you, right? Because when the CIA/NSA comes after me because my computer was flagged because of all my fic research for you, I'm making sure you're implicated. *grins*

And when they come for me, I'm telling them that the suggestion to use GHB as a kidnapping drug was totally yours.

Though, my question on that one was great. "Hypothetically, if I wanted to kidnap someone, what kind of drug would I use and what would be the best method of getting the drug into the system of the kidnapee?" -quickly followed by "How solid is the extradition treaty between the US and Mexico?"

But, hey - I mentioned the Russia conversation!

LOLOLOL. You do that. It totally can be, though! Medicinal sedative! Nothing wrong with it! The chemical formula is slightly different, so it's not completely GHB, but it's the same base, so yeah.

We have the best fic writing conversations, I swear. The best. They start out so random and just go even farther into left field as you progress with the fic.

Hee. Yeah, you do get points for that. Me and my Russiaphilism. They should have lived happily ever after and moved away to Provideniya and had mad hawt secks in the Siberan winters.

As I've said before, you are one of only two (I think) slash authors I read on a regular basis. I adore your writing and I absolutely loved reading this. I didn't know you thought your stories thru so thoroughly. It really adds another level to the fic. I totally love how you've made the relationship between Mohinder and Sylar so reality-based (how Sylar could never be fully redeemed). And Joss Whedon FTW! I'm totally a graduate of his school of angst, too.

Great job. :)

Well, thank you! A lot of the time, I don't think them through that well, but play it more by ear, with a pretty good idea of where I'm going, or of the twist I'll put in at the end.

Yay fellow Joss graduate! :P

This was a really, really interesting read. I quite enjoyed learning about your whole thought process behind this.

Although, now I am even more sure that the mix is totally lame and will never live up to the Awesome that this fic is. Must find more songs...*eye twitches*

You're doing a fanmix for this, too? 0.o Maybe I should just send you the ones I have, then. I'm sure you're closer to complete than me. ^_^

Heh, yeah, it's for cerebel's birthday.

That'd be awesome! It can be from both of us that way...

That was the exact same idea I had. ^_^ I approve. Um... my email is airspaniel at gmail dot com, and I guess if you want you can email me the track you have, or I can email you the ones I have or vicey versa. ^_^

I wonder if there's any overlap!

I liked reading this a lot, but I'm a pretty huge nerd for behind-the-scenes insight. ^_^ I think it's interesting the way you thought through the storyline as a whole, what details you had decided from the get-go as opposed to winging it. We have a lot of the same process, you and I, though I lack the cojones to actually start an honest to god series.

And I agree, the early sex scenes in this are some of the most smoking hot things I've ever read. Part one is still on my rainy day fic list, for those times when I need something to cheer me up.

...yes, I realize that's kind of disturbing. ^_~

Pffft. Not disturbing at all. I have a list of smokin' hot fics to read when I'm in a bad mood, and part one is on mine, too. Rainy Day Fics Yay! *sage nod*

Wow, I love that you did a commentary! I enjoyed reading this a lot, and I think that now you have cemented yourself as THE Mohinder/Sylar writer. A Mylar Bard, if you will. Gravity had everything and, oh Lord, I'll miss it.

I thought there were some things to say that I didn't cover in the comments.

Well, thank you! I really appreciate that ^_^ I'll see about starting a new epic series sometime soon :P
