Anyone who's been paying attention, will know of my love for the CBBC show Horrible Histories. It won the award for Best Sketch Show at this year's British Comedy Awards (a kids' show - gasp!) and deservedly so. It's the BBC at its best - educational AND entertaining ( Read more... )

Sounds like Mr. Turpin's life was romanticized much like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in the American Wild West (thanks in no small part to Robert Redford and Paul Newman). Sometimes I think people forget what ruthless SOBs they truly were.

Oh, definitely. He's another of those unsavoury characters who has been turned into a good guy by folklore. But that's one of the things that's so great about this show and the books it's based on; it tells kids the truth behind the famous stories and myths. If you listen to the lyrics (which you clearly have!) they tell the proper story.

He has! Of course, my kids are too young to remember Adam Ant - but for the adults it was the icing on the cake!

I loved that. I watched it on the iPlayer last night and even hubby woke up and laughed. aBook cracked me up completely as well.

Oh, this was funny! I loved Adam Ant, even saw him in concert in Nashville TN in 1983ish. Am I going to have to get out my old tapes now? ;-)

In 1983 the 6 yr old I babysat for had a poster of Adam Ant on his wall!
