A tough lesson for my Sophie

I was woken up  this morning by a crying 13 year old girl.  She climbed into bed with her father and I and begged me to tell her it wasn't true.  That Cory Monteith wasn't dead.  In that moment, I wanted to lie, to take her pain away, but I couldn't.  Glee and the love of first Finchel and then of Lea and Cory together in real life is one of the

I love Glee too and while Finchel was never my fave I had an appreciation for what Cory brought to the program. He had his own presence and seemed to me like a truly decent person. A flawed person as we also found out not that long ago. So I have great sympathy for you and your Sophie.

Her reaction reminded me of my reaction when I heard the horrible news that John Lennon had been murdered. A major talent gone. A 1/4 of the greatest band ever to be, gone. A little boy without his father. A woman without her husband. All too soon and all too unexpected.

Hard lesson for Sophie indeed.
