River had returned from town, which had included lunch and pen shopping, when she heard noises from the garage. She stuck her head through the door. "What are you doing?" she asked, curious.

"Fixing the swoop bike," Sam said, setting a part carefully to the side. "What are you doing?"

River shrugged. "Lunch. Finally got some proper food." She entered the garage. "Need help?" she asked. Not that she was good at the getting grease on your fingers part, but she had plenty of theoretical knowledge that she was always willing to share.

"You have to get your own screwdriver," she said, clutching hers to her chest and pointing at the tools on the workbench, "and what kind of proper food?"

Aly might possibly have been on the lookout for a certain redhead to yell at talk to, but she saw someone working on a swoop bike and headed into the garage to see if it was Sam.

She didn't expect a little kid. "Err, hello?"

Sam waved happily, having added engine grease to the flour and dried eggs and waffles. "Aly, hi!"

Jack had sort of got his face clean. Sort of. And his hands. His feet were spotless, though, seeing as he'd been playing in the kitchen sink.

He tooled into the garage, a kid on a mission, and started poking through stuff, trying to find a really long piece of rope. When he caught sight of Sam, he stopped dead, eyes really big. "Oooohhh! Sammie, you've got the 'lectric screwdriver!"

"Uh huh!" She beamed at him, then pointed to all the pieces scattered around her, "I'm fixing the swoop bike!"

"Coool! Are you making into a flying car time machine?" He trotted over to stare at all the pieces. "You're a good taker aparter!"

"Told you," Sam said proudly, "and it's a swoop bike. Like a flying motorcycle, but it doesn't go through time."

Hmmmm. It was probably best that Sam didn't know how to do that.
