It's been a long time coming - many hurdles have delayed the event, but it has finally happened. Posters have been put up in various places throughout the Mansion throughout the past few weeks, from the moment that the date was set.

Titus's first performance, in a role that he chose for himself, and he is feeling warm with success. Cyrano, of course, found a few things to gently critique about his delivery, but this isn't enough to shake his good feeling.

He's just emerged from the backstage area after the performance, and there's likely a bit of a spring in his step.

He might spot a familiar face in the crowd. Melou wouldn't usually show up for this sort of thing. He found the play kind of boring, actually, though he wouldn't admit it. The only reason he came at all was because he knew Titus had one of the leading roles.

He likely spotted Melou in the audience during the performance, and afterward, he'll approach his friend. "Your highness, I hope that our theatrical pleased you," he asks, bowing.

"It did," Melou says, with the smallest hint of a smile.

Which is... not entirely true, actually. He found it a bit boring. But he doesn't want to be mean.

Tom's in a pretty good mood after the play. It was a success, if he may say so himself, and in his opinion, the costumes were perfect. He actually slept on most of the fabric for a few days before cutting it so it would absorb even more of his magic. The more magic he puts into clothes, the better they turn out.

They are very good costumes, though. They fit almost too well, kind of like they've shaped themselves around the person they were made for. Also, they're imbued with magic, so anyone with more supernaturally attuned senses might be able to pick up on that.

Tom can be found lazing round in a chair after the performance, looking quite content with himself.

Hisoka approaches him, still wearing his Roman toga and cloak. And it must be said that the costume fits him exquisitely, flowing around him in a natural and dignified manner. "I hope you are as pleased with your work as the cast is!" he says.

Tom grins. "Yup," he says. "I am. The togas turned out great."

And since Hisoka must have shown up for his toga fitting, I'm assumning these two have met before.

"They certainly did!" agrees Hisoka. "You're talented. Do you have other projects going besides this one?"

Melou can be found in the crowd after the play, looking awkward and out of place, trying his best to avoid having to talk to anyone. He wouldn't usually show up to this sort of thing; he only came to see Titus. He's a bit embarrassed about being here, actually, and he's hoping he's not going to run into anybody he knows.

Well, Brett isn't going to run into him, and they don't really know each other, but the teenager has gotten over the majority of his Mansion-related emo. Maybe things will go better this time, but probably not. He smiles when he sees Melou.

"Hey," he says, not committed to an attempt at conversation yet, in case he gets blown off. Just saying hi.

Melou eyes him for a moment. "Good day," he returns.

He thinks it's strange that Brett is talking to him. He thought they didn't like each other.

Well, it's better than fireballs, and ever since finding out that fireballs are actually an option for some people around here, Brett has changed his standards for not liking those he meets. Even before the incident with Millicent, though, Brett hasn't really been one to let a bit of awkward stop him from talking to someone.

In summary, Brett isn't aware that they dislike each other. He just thought they caught each other on a bad day, and the lack of outright rejection to his greeting prompts the obvious question, "Did you enjoy the play?"

Hisoka exits the ballroom by its side door, which opens onto one of the gardens. There is a patio outside, and stone-flag walks wind among the shrubs and flowerbeds. The trees are strung with lights. Out here, with coats or wraps, playgoers and production members are able to enjoy the refreshingly cold air after the heat of the ballrooom. Hisoka has taken off his makeup and changed into shirt, sweater, jeans, and jean jacket. His cheeks are flushed and his eyes are tired but bright.

Brett had been attracted by the noise and the spectacle, but the press of bodies quickly became too much for him once all was said and done. He wasn't able to follow much of what was going on, but he recognized a few of the faces, and now he recognizes Hisoka again when he comes out the doors. He goes from broodily contemplating some of the lights to smiling.

"Hey - nice job," he calls.

"Thanks!" responds Hisoka, warmly. "And thank you for coming. How's it going?"

Brett shrugs, and glances around. "It's pretty much the only thing going on," he says, then seems to realize how that sounds and blinks at himself. He adds, hurriedly, "Not that that means it wasn't good! I just... wouldn't know."

Sigh.

"Sports are my thing," he tries once more, lamely, before giving up and answering the question. "Pretty good, I guess. I didn't know things like this happened here."

Lystra's here too, of course. She's been looking forward to the play for a long time, and there's no way she would miss it. Tyan remained mercifully quiet throughout and actually slept through most of the performance.

She can be found lingering in the ballroom afterwards, practically walking on air because she thought the whole thing was so wonderful. Tyan has woken up and is toddling after her, rather unsteady on his feet because he hasn't quite got the hang of it yet.

Because Dean is not the man he once was, it's still Tyan that he greets first, because kids still think he's awesome and he's pretty pleased with them, too.

"Hey, toughstuff - did you understand a word of that?" he asks Tyan loudly, separating from the crowd to crouch before the boy before grinning up at Lystra broadly. "Oh, hey there, sweetheart," he adds, feigning afterthought.

Lystra's face brightens when she hears that voice. "Dean!"

She's always happy to see you, Dean. Even more so today, because she's in a really good mood, and you just called her 'sweetheart'.

"The one and only." It's really, really fortunate that she finds that endearing, because we haven't found a way to discourage him from doing it reliably yet. His expression had been pretty sincere to start with, but it warms and the grin somehow settles more comfortably over his features when she doesn't react badly. He stands, and thinks about ruffling Tyan's hair, but his fingers don't so much as twitch away from his side.

He glances her over with a low whistle, appreciative but not, for once, on the sleazy side. "You are gonna give someone a heart attack, I swear. You havin' fun?"
