Douches Abound!

If you guys recall, about 6 days ago I posted a link to a news story about the hanging of Saddam...this person thought it would be funny to respond. I'm not unconvinced it's someone just messing with me. Anyway, their reply to my post was as follows

This person's subject line was "HeLL 2 da No!". That basically tells you everything you need to know. Not only are they basically condoning genocide, but they're doing it in... What is that, a rap/netspeak hybrid with apparently random capitalisations?

Reading the rest of their opinion was a waste of your time!

Excuse you both... (probably republicans...) I don't know about you but I grew up in the middle east, 2 different places, 2 cultures, 2 completely different worlds.. Unlike most people I don't just turn on FOX news and use that as my bible.. I listen to Japanese news, Spanish, British..I listen to ARABIC news, I can actually hear what saddam said... and certain things you just can't translate into English. And as for my "apparently random capitalisations" SeE I RaNdOmLy *capitaliZe*** things to show emphasis because reading things on your computer screen is not the same as hearing me say them. I guess you couldn't figure that one out on your own. and as for CAPNNUDITY... I'm not even going to try to continue this bs with you... I think you're way too closed minded to even think about taking me seriously. Don't think this means that I got scared and backed out of our little argument because unlike you, I dont have the time to sit there and 'tear apart' people comments on livejournal... I have a life that needs to be lived.

If you are as enlightened as I guess you are claiming to be I seriously doubt you'd call us both Republicans. Did you even read what I wrote back? Probably Republicans? What the fuck? I'm certainly no fan of George Bush, and I'm certainly no Republican, and Mistertee is British, so I seriously doubt he is much of one either. That would be like me writing back and saying "Hmmm you disagree with me, you must be member of the Labour Party!". See how that doesn't make any fucking sense? Look, instead of excusing Tee and I, how 'bout you shut the fuck up and read what I have to say. You look like an idiot. And while I don't think you should let public perception alter how you act, I don't go out of my way to make people go "Wow, he's dumb ( ... )

look genius i didn't randomly look around for lj's cuz that's creepy as fuck... it just showed up on the bottom of 'my lj' and it really bothered me, so i replied because i'm not saying i know everything... I know what i've heard, studied and researched since i was in kindergarten... which is that saddam was a good leader. Did you ever actually get a chance to ask him why he did what he did? alright then. Don't try and act like you know everything about me or about saddam or about the middle east because until you go live in the middle east, I won't take what you think seriously... not that you take me seriously because of the way i type things? anyways... you told me to let you know when i'm ready to have a 'serious, intelligent debate' to let you know? let me know when you're ready to respect, listen, and open your mind to a new idea.. let me know when you aren't closed minded about any opinions other than your own.

Do I sense a bit of ignorance, and possibly a hint of arrogance? Perhaps a touch of brain-wash as well.

Point is, Saddam was a person, just like you or I, and whether he did what he did was justified will never be understood because we are too ignorant and self righteous to actually try to understand. We just pop in there and go, "Hey, this doesn't look right, let us fuck with it a little bit and see what happens!"
Both of you have good points, and the fact that the original poster doesn't see the legitimacy of the point from the other side makes me ashamed of him.
And another thing, it's fucking awful to say good riddance about ANYONE who's died. How would you like to have the people who hate you (believe me, there will be if there aren't already, it's a fact of life...) say "good riddance" after you died? It's just incredibly disrespectful, especially if you don't know the person personally ( ... )

No, yes, and no. Saddam was a person. What he did is NOT JUSTIFIABLE. Never will the mass murder of so many people be acceptable. It's not acceptable by Saddam any more that it would be under Bush.

As far as not saying "Good Riddance"...I'm still glad he hung. A lot of my own friends disagree with me on this, and they don't believe in capital punishment. Saddam got what he deserved. Now, the fact that they ridiculed him before he went was a bit barbaric. Even the US is guilty of this (the people who had death parties for Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy, etc). The least they could've done is given him a bit more dignity at his execution, something he denied thousands of people he ordered killed. Good Riddance to him, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc. A few redeeming qualities does not make up for the things he did while in power.
