Well, then you have people like me, who because of a combination of a travelling music career and NEVER moving my home base, know a gajillion people. And often have spent significant blocks of time with them... but I don't HAVE the time to get together with everyone. I do have a few minutes here and there at work to check on them, I personally feel happy when a friend comments because I know, like me, that they're busy, and it's a nice thought that they were thinking of me.

Like I said, I'm not saying that everyone on these sites is arrogant and vain or that everybody self destructs while using them. I've just known people who get so addicted to these sites that it disrupts their normal relationships/responsibilities/life.

Ultimately, this was just a rant at how upset I was at Stephen for trying to talk me into using this site when he KNOWS damn well I have my reasons for not being interested.

Oh god - What I hate about Myspace (and it's now leaking to other sites) are those idiotic sparkly comments and catchphrase images.

i think myspace is the godfather of all evil for all the reasons you listed. i was tired of seeing my cousins whoring themselves to the public, of being friended for the sake of being a tick on someone's number count, and of trying to sum myself up in the space allotted.

with that said, i didn't have a problem with facebook for a while because it was initially an elitist club in which few universities participated. back when i joined in 03, it was among the ivy league schools and the university I attended, with select others. A tier-1 joke, members-only club .. and i actually thought it would spawn a viable networking space among professionals. HA. then the whole world was allowed to join and it lost all cred. oh well.

Dude I totally agree with you. I have a myspace as well, and I never log on because I don't see the point -probably because there is no fucking point to it!

Livejournal, on the other hand, involves this exchange (you, among others, blogging and me, responding) which I value so much.

What I think is even more ridunkulous is when people have a nexopia and facebook and bebo and hi5 and etc. on TOP of myspace. Just put it all on one g'damn profile!

Although I'm sure neither you nor I would consider eachother close friends, I do hope that you agree that the exchange between us has always been real. And genuinely, I hope to get to know you better through the years, whether inside or outside of this internet. :)
