Good ad blocker for ie?

Jun 15, 2011 02:25

Don't just tell me to use another browser, I want to use Interner Explorer.  I have my reasons.  Does anyone know of any legit, free, ad blocking software for it?  I'm tired of accidentally clicking ads and getting bogged down with tracking cookies.

I hope you know how hard it is to NOT make this a mile long rant about IE, which best function is to download another browser .. damn, there it goes. ANYWAY, since you said you want to use Internet Explorer out of free will, here's my (and the technical departments) knowledge:

There is no 100% effective ad blocking software for Internet Explorer, since Internet Explorer itself is not really made for this function. REGARDLESS of this there is a very good A) legit B) free C) ad blocking software for Internet Explorer called IE7Pro ... it's a Addon for Internet Explorer that is free, open source and developed in cooperation with Microsoft. It's not only for ad-blocking but has a ton of other features, but it got kind of famous for beeing the best ad-block that works well with IE. Link is:

http://www.ie7pro.com/

Hope it works and helps you out

Thanks for that. That's the one I ended up looking at the most and eventually downloading. It doesn't work perfectly, but it's better than nothing.

I was trying to research a problem with Google, and I came across a funny comment. He said, "I hate when people tell you to download Firefox when you have a problem with IE. It's like saying, 'Why does my Ford overheat when I go uphill?' and someone says, 'Ford sucks, get a Chevy.' " lol

He's basically right, sure thing. But you know, it's .. kind of tiresome, because IE has so many bugs, tweaks, errors, security loopholes, incorrect protocols, outdated filters and stuff that it's simply annoying as hell to support it in any way. For example when you spend an hour with a customer to get his IE going to do what he wants to do, it's so much shorter to say "You know, get Firefox or Chrome" .. and guesswhut, it instantly works. I really try to not judge stuff by company brand, but IE simply is TECHNICALLY inferior to Firefox, Chrome, goddamit, even Safari is better in some areas, and i nearly puke blood by saying something good about Safari.

So I guess it's not like the ford example, but more like "Why does my handwoven cotton-underwear with little bits of wood and barbed wire in it chave and makes my bum go numb?" and someone says "What?" .. :D
