I like that this town is so openly discouraging of driving.  In New York, it's generally known that attempting to drive through it isn't a good choice, but there's still a pervading status thing about keeping a car in the city.  Here, people who drive are considered retarded.  There are still cars here certainly; they're all parked along the canals

If I were somehow ever to make it to Europe again, you seem like the sort of person I'd want to go see stuff with. I know so many people who go to exotic places and don't seem to have much appreciation for the cultural experiences to be had there. I mean, yay for there being pot and hookers and all, but I figure there has to be more to a visit to Amsterdam.
