I don't get it

This day has been a bit aggravating.  Figuring out the lay of the land, and the lay of the trams, has not been easy, because there's no real direct route to anything, and every map I look at has its own spin on things (heh, kinda like Boston).  Also, publications don't seem to be into telling you which tram line things are on; I guess you're just ( Read more... )

i did very little tram-riding in amsterdam, i was totally intimidated and hadn't read anything about how you pay. i did a lot of walking, but it was a much warmer time of year.
my second time in the netherlands we had a dutch host who revealed the awesome fact that any tram ticket bought in any dutch city will work on any tram in the whole country. how nice would that be in the US?!

I got a four-day unlimited that I just show to the driver, but it wasn't very straightforward find out I could do that. And yeah, the 'strippenkart' pay-per-ride makes no sense to me at all. I read that those were supposed to be phased out by now in favor of smart cards like NYC metrocards, but that does not appear to be true.

I've done a ton of walking anyway, since there quite often is no public transportation route that can take you directly to where you're going from where you are. Nice city for walking anyway.
