I'm glad you liked this book. I liked it a lot, myself--I think I liked An Artificial Night a little more, but yeah. Still awesome.

Toby/Tybalt forever!

(I have no use for Connor, either)

I definitely think the third book was physically and mentally harder on Toby, but I couldn't have done that two books in a row!

An Artificial Night hit something really primal in me. I had a reoccurring nightmare as a child (and sometimes I've had it even as an adult) of being chased by a horrible large scary adult nightmare creature I never quite see and I'm barely a step ahead of.

Then I read An Artificial Night while I was running a fever of about 101.

So yeah.

I like this book tremendously though. It answers a lot of questions (while throwing a ton more at you), but I can REALLY LIVE without Connor gumming up the works. :)

I like him okay. Rather like how I like, I don't know, a Hershey's Kiss. It's not my favorite candy, but if it's available I'll snag a piece and like it fine. When he's on screen, I like him fine. But I don't miss him when he's not there.

I'm with you on Connor. I trust McGuire to do a love triangle well, but the way Tybalt's been constructed? Oh, I hate to see his reaction if Toby chooses Connor in any way.

This is a series I've seen a lot of good comments about, but have never tried. I think the blurb of the first one didn't grab me and I didn't pick it up. But lots of people say such good things about them all.

I did read and really enjoy "Feed", which surprised me, as I don't actually like zombies, so maybe I should trust the author?

Should I be adding the first book in the series to my bulging TBR pile?

If you give the series a shot, know that I wasn't wild about the first two books. I loved the world-building, and there were some supporting characters who caught my eye, but I was ready to quit at book two until everyone else assured me how much the series improved with book three. I'm glad I listened to them.

I loved FEED too, which helped me trust the author more in terms of what she was doing with this urban fantasy series. :)

That's always a tough call with any series. I will say this: the world building is EXCELLENT all along, and the prologue of the first book is ridiculously unique and heartbreaking. I think it's worth your while to give at least book one a shot, and see what, if anything, appeals to you. If nothing appeals, probably not worth reading (that's how I felt about the first Harry Dresden novel), but if anything appeals at all, I suggest to keep going. They're fast reads. :)

Yeah, I should get around to reading this series one of these days...been on my radar screen for a while. Good to know that if I'm feeling ambivalent about the first few that I should push on with it.
