I had general anesthesia when I was seven. Hated it, it scared the crap out of me. I mean, it was fine, but I totally understand. You'll feel groggy and nauseous for awhile, but it really isn't too horrible, and you'll sleep it off. It is scary though, but you have to be really well trained to be an anesthesiologist, so I'm sure you'll be in good hands.
I hear the worst part though is the recovery, especially for adults. When I thought I'd have to get mine taken out, I did some research and everything said that even though you won't want to, drink a ton of water. It'll help the healing a lot :)
