Boycott of Amazon.com

Guess what? I'm laughing my ass off about this one.

Watching all these Neopagans get so outraged that Amazon may not sell their books anymore.

Oh, it's not a topic ban, it's an economic monopoly thing.

A lot of Neopagans (and others) use print-on-demand (POD) services to self-publish books or start their own publishing houses. Amazon has started their own POD company, and in order to pressure more people to use their service, they're threatening to stop carrying books printed by rival POD companies.

When we were looking for a printer for the FAQ, some suggested Amazon's company, BookSurge (I think that's what it's called). But due to the First Nations boycott, those of us who were already observing the boycott said no.

I don't think it's that big a deal what Amazon does. I've never really supported them. There are lots of other online bookstores who will continue to carry POD titles. I think this choice was stupid on Amazon's part, though, as it's just turning more people turn against them. But as I already thought they were a largely-destructive and racist institution, that's fine with me :-)
