how much they knew about being vegan. the vegans i knew were very keen on breastfeeding, and even if they didn't breastfeed, the used soy formula.

poor baby. parents got what they deserved imo.

Apparently she was breastfeeding the child, but due to her severely restricted diet there wasn't enough nourishment in her breast milk, either. We've seen these sorts of deaths all over the Third World - and boycotted soy formula makers for contributing to these sorts of deaths. Now they're happening here, too.

it doesn't sound like they were breastfeeding him to me. and if he was 6 weeks, and not breast feeding regularly, then she likely was drying up.

offering an infant juice before 6 mos is not good. especially apple juice which can lead to diarrhea. see http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/baby-juice.html under potential hazards of too much juice.

it's been a long time since i bought a box of soy milk-but someone on another comm said that soy milk has labels that say it isn't intended for infant formula.

Fuck! Apparently their own malnourishment destroyed their brains. Hopefully they'll be forced to actually have some protein and get enough brain cells back to realize how fucked up they are for this...otherwise, I'm afraid they're likely too numb for the punishment to be enough.
