Honestly, though, I love the books and reading chair on the side gantry thing (though if they ever have to run around the gantries that chair could get someone killed, and the lighting and coloring seems reasonable, but other than that it didn't seem hugely different. Still has the Gallifreyan Stargate thingy up top. Will have to see more of it in action.
Enjoyed it, but wish Moffatt had spent a leeeetle bit less time justifying casting Capaldi (Why's he Scottish? Why does he look like a character we've seen before? Why's he old (at 56)?) and a leeeeeetle bit more time on the story, it could have been even better.
Post-regen episodes are usually a bit of a hash, but I think there's going to be a payoff of that 'familiar face' thing later on in the series in terms of character development and retcon. Clara's attitude seemed really out of character for her though.
Yes, why does ever-so-accepting Clara get all weird over him being older? Rose, sure I'd buy it, but Clara?
I can only think it was the writer's way of trying to put Clara into the shoes of supposed young viewers who have never seen "old Who" and don't get why their young heart throb just got old. :P
