Thank you so much. I was hoping that it wouldn't end up too angsty, but still really show what Jim had been through. I'm happy to hear that seems to have worked.
Farmer Brown's is also amazing (fyi - it's located in the Tenderloin, which is not the best part of town).
You should check out: Luna Park, Delfina (the Pac Heights location - trying to get into the one in the Mission is difficult), Presidio Social Club, and Wayfare Tavern.
THIS! Oh, THIS....is everything I asked for, and more. You write family so beautifully, and I am thrilled beyond words you were assigned to write for me. It's a gorgeous look at the first tentative steps of coming together, maybe--just maybe, they are more than roommates, more than friends. It's nice to read a story where Jim is happy to see his mom, and that she's happy to see him. Sometimes that relationship gets really bogged down, but here it's easy; they just pick up where they left off. And Leonard is calm and soothing and available, and bad-ass! Like, mother bear bad-ass.
My favorite is the lovely start to this story, where Jim drifts to sleep in Leonard's lap. The trust just shines through, for both of them.
As always, your writing is lyrical and clear. Our boys are always perfectly in characters in whatever setting you choose, and a joy to read. Thank you so very much!
I just love the way you write Jim and Bones. I will never tire of reading your stories about them, whether it's a Star Trek based story or a present day AU. They always seem to intuitively know just what the other needs. It was so endearing to me how Jim helped Bones through the shuttle ride and how Bones gently reminded Jim of how he was a sixteen year old who had the courage to help his mother leave an abusive marriage. I also always enjoy any story where Jim and Leonard are intelligent adults who actually take the time to talk about their feelings and where they want their relationship to go.
Thank you so much Jachelle. Sometimes I feel like I circle the same waters over and over again, and I worried that this story was dragging and boring. But in the end, I realized I come back to what works for these characters when I've got them. I'm just happy to hear others can still enjoy it too.
