OMG, THIS IS MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!! Ahem, well. Seriously, this is amazing. I will not quote every line I love, but this time it is not because of my incredible laziness, but because it would be completely and utterly redundant, seeing as I would be repeating the entire story. I think a pre-move Wilby story is hard, but you've really nailed it. I think character studies are freaking hard but the best that fanfiction and literature have to offer, and you more than nailed it. And the ending is absolutely brilliant. This is the second best thing to physically producing Duck MacDonald for me.

Oh thank god. You like it. *deep breath*

ALL FOR YOU! (And, you know, the rest of the internet. BUT IT HAS YOUR NAME ON IT)

Since I don't think I'm capable of handing you Duck, I'm glad you're satisfied with this substitute. I'm glad you like the ending; I was a bit unsure about it. I love character studies, though, yes, hard. The amount of emails/texts/etc with capslock variants of OMG I NEED TO FINISH THIS DAMN MIDSUMMER FIC I have sent to dustuck is kind of absurd.

But you like it. Everything is ok. I'm going to bed.

Duck’s impression of Dan Jarvis was that he was a tall man trying to take up less space.

This is the BEST one sentence description of Dan Jarvis in the history of the world. No contest.

One of the most compelling things about Duck McDonald is how well he wears his own skin and lives in it. You show how he got there and I love you for that. Beautifully done!

Yes, that does sum Dan up rather nicely, doesn't it?

Thank you for the lovely comment!

This is very cool, and wonderfully different from anything else I've read. Thank you for showing me Duck in a way I've never seen him before.

Oh, I like this. The scene when he wakes up and sees that woman painting is beautiful. And I like this line: He made a life for himself and learned to enjoy solitude, though discovered a fondness for people-watching.

Thanks! I'm glad that scene worked for you. It went through at least three totally different versions before this one, but that image is one of the first things I started with.

This was lovely. You've drawn this man so clearly and so well that I can love him without ever having seen the movie. Also, I loved this:

He learned to be amused by what had once made him angry, and that working with his hands settled his mind.

Also, I <3 you.
