The Final Countdown

Friday the BDE held it's deployment ceremony and cased its colors. Saturday, my XO flew out. I received word on Thursday that my flight has been pushed from the 18th to the 20th. This does not please me. I realized Saturday how anxious I am to get going. I want to get over there and starting doing what I have to do ( Read more... )

I agree! I think it was very important for you to be able to focus on your guys. You didn't need me and Lily there trying to take up your time when you have so much on your mind already. I miss you terribly but this was good...

I miss you guys very much. I'm glad Lily has the pictures to see. I miss her baby hugs... and yours too. Touching feets, kisses, all that...

...but I'm glad we did it. This will be good for us.

so are your deployment activities going to be similar to last time or do you have different orders for this round? eep, man. i can't believe the year is almost over and you're just about on your way to a-stan.

My deployment activities are much different this time because I am a company commander on this go-round. Overall, I'll be bouncing between my platoons who will be hunting IEDs and their makers/emplacers/material smugglers, etc. I have also been tasked to train Afghan Sappers, so that mission promises to be interesting as well.
