I've just had an email from lj about renewing my subscription, after several years when they emailed to say that they were extending paid ljs for free, what with the whole leaders-of-their-country-having-attacked-another-country, and clearly deciding that they really couldn't ask us to try and pay them money ( Read more... )

Just send a quick message to the help people. I have a permanent account and the last two years, when they have auto-contacted me re my icon packages, have sent a message to say that I can't access payment, and they've replied to confirm it's waived.

I have a permanent account, so didn't get the email. Not sure I wouldn't pay if I had to, though. I have no idea how LJ is linked to the Russian government. And it's not as if either of our countries haven't pulled major crap.

As far as any other platform, I post to DW, but by cut and pasting my LJ post, because of the problem with posting photos to DW. I won't go on Facebook, Tumblr is lousy when it comes to discussions, not sure about any of the others. So I imagine if something happens to LJ, or if too many more people leave, the only place I'll be posting is Goodreads.

Yes, I had the reminder too. I think it is an automated reminder because I had such things too before I made an automatic payment.

I wrote them an email, told them the problem, and said, that I would be happy to pay if I only could. They apologized for the inconvenience and extended my account for another year. But they also told me that they can't guarantee that they could give me the gift next year as well.
