Booked another holiday..

I've just booked another trip to England. It's been my yearly me-time these past four or five years, and I really do need some time on my own. Four days in London, and seven i Oxford, August 26 until September 6. Yet another authors' conference, two at the same time that week-end, both in Oxford, so I'll try to attend something at both of them.. ( Read more... )

Poor Sweden, they always seem to do so well, right up until close to the finish where they all just fall apart. I blame some sort of deep-seated Jantelagen for that.

There used to be a really excellent Middle Eastern restaurant in Clerkenwell. I shall try to remember the name. Also, of course, the London Museum, but I am sure you have been there many times already. Have you been inside St. Bartholomew the Great at Smithfield? If not, well worth a visit AND it is supposedly haunted as well.

We did it! Wow! Couldn't believe Sweden, so great! 3-0!!

Thanks for the recs! I don't think I've been to the London Museum at all! At least not as an adult. And St. Bartholomew the Great sound perfect as well. I haven't really been to that part of London before, so look forward to exploring it!

The London museum is having an exhibition of night photography at the moment, and it's rather good.

There's the Guildhall, which has a roman amphitheatre beneath it which is mostly just lights now, and an art gallery above.

I feel like I've completely missed everything east/north of St Paul's, (except for Hendon, where I stayed at a friend's parents' house possibly 15 years ago?, and a walk my brother and I took through Hoxton/Hackney a few years before that..)) will definitely check out the London Museum, and Guildhall! London is always much bigger that I think it will be, and it's especially annoying when you have to take the bus back to Oxford.. much better this time, since I practically have 4 whole days in London, and I'll try to skip the things I've seen before..

Nods. I always recommend Sir John Soane's museum, though that's in Holborn.

Because it's bonkers.

Oh wow, that looks perfect for me!And I think I remember reading something about the candle-lit evening exhibitions. And they are open on Wednesdays so that will be a perfect thing to do on the 29th! Thanks!
