After reading the school newspaper, The Tick decided to do something nice for his housemates.

That's why on the kitchen table there was a large cake reading:

A KEEN CAKE FOR
A KEEN COUPLE!
VADER + V

These kinds of gestures always made Tick feel good.

Vader walked into the kitchen and stared at the cake.

For a long, long time.

"What?"

"Hello, Darth! Can I call you Darth?" Tick asked. "The cake is chocolate!"

"You can call me Lord Vader," Vader replied a bit peevishly. He pointed at the cake. "Explain."

"You're such a kidder, Darth!" Tick said. "Anyway, I saw the announcement in the school paper. You don't have anything to hide from us about your personal relationships! You and V could have been more open this whole time!"

"Is it someone's birthday?" Thursday asked when she saw the cake. Then she stepped closer and had a look. "Anniversary then?"

"Hello, Thursday!" Tick said. "The school paper mentioned their coupling today and I wanted to make sure they knew that their lifestyle is accepted."

"That's very welcoming of you, Tick. How's the response so far?"

Tick whispered as quietly as he could - which wasn't very quietly, mind you - "I think Darth is confused about it being in the open. But the gesture seems to have moved him."

V had to eat sometime, even if he didn't do it where anyone could see. Hence why he made his way into the kitchen.

And paused.

And sighed, loudly, behind the mask. "The Sandburg child decided to keep his creative editing in the interview, I suppose?"

"Blair is a very creative person," Tick said. "It was an excellent article, I have to say!"

"Lord Vader and I are not...together."

"Are you saying the newspaper spreads untruths?" Tick asked.

John took a break from doing some last minute research and headed down to the kitchen to grab a bite.

He saw the cake on the table and stared.

"Hello, John! Have some well-intentioned-but-ultimately-false cake!" Tick said. "It's chocolate!"

"Chocolate false cake?" John echoed. Then shrugged with a small smile. "I suppose I've eaten worse."

"The fact that it was bought out of lies doesn't make it any less sweet!" Tick said encouragingly.
