Perhaps Allison would disapprove of this form of Robot Love?

Dec 01, 2009 15:47

Mainly I am just here to state for the record my intense, heart-bursting love for Allison Iraheta, and her fucking awesome new album. I AM SO PROUD OF HER. I was actually looking forward to this album the most out of the Kradison trifecta, and I'm THRILLED with it. It seems like the perfect mix of Allison's world-weary, whiskey-rough voice with ( Read more... )

DUDE. $58 for the complete series is phenomenal. Thanks for the heads-up!

Right?! It doesn't include PK Wars, but even so, it's a hell of a bargain.

I AM SO PROUD OF HER. I HAVE BEEN BEAMING ALL DAY. *twirls you around in glee* I'm also really glad that with all three of them, their albums sound like THEM, you know? I mean, yes, there's some excessive gloss/production/etc., but their unique talents are still VERY clear, and it seems like they're genuinely proud of what they ended up with, and I'm SO happy for that.

HEEE, I like that icon! ♥

YES. okay, true, they're all clearly POP albums and produced, but NONE of the personality has been removed from any of them. they're distinct and themselves. YAYS OMFG.

also, let's talk about the fact that THIS GIRL IS SEVENTEEN. WUT.

The online reviews of the venue (El Corazon, for the record) claim that it is the worst in Seattle, which is kind of hilarious given that the online reviews of the Showbox SoDo (which is where we saw the Crash Kings the first time around, along with some dude named David... Rook? Book? something like that)

That name sounds really familiar. Wasn't he on that show America's Next Top Idol's Got Talent?

Amazon likens them to Artic Monkeys, which is an association that popped into my head this morning as I was listening in the car, and probably more accurate to people who are not constantly teetering on the edge of thinking about MWK whether they're listening to music or, like, buying milk).

Who are these people who're doing that? I want names & phone numbers & Social Security numbers..

OTOH I'm practically thisclose to converting my best friend to MWK & Green River Ordinance fanlandia. She really likes Andy's voice on 'Lemmings' (I think that was the one she liked). So SCORE! :D

HEE. Something like that, I think! They're all the same, you know. ;)

I know, right? FREAKY.

Oooh, good for you! PIMP WELL. I haven't even dipped my toes into GRO yet, actually, aside from the prank war thing, but I will DEFINITELY get there at some point. Ryan Star, too (though at least I've bought the "Breathe" single). Thanks for having such talented friends, DC! :D

OMG, you need to dip into that GRO stuff...SO MUCH <3 for them. Ryan I'm kind of into, I have a couple of his songs but I haven't warmed up to him just yet. But GRO and Ryan, that doesn't even begin to cover it. You should listen to Phil Marshall & Bryan Jewett (David and Neal lived w/him in his house in the MWK days, and Neal produced his album). SO good. If you listen to KCRadio.com, or even Andrew's radio show on Saturdays, they get a lot of airplay there. That's actually how I first heard about them.

Thanks for having such talented friends, DC! :D

Yeah, about that....My wallet wants to have a discussion about him and his talented friends, I tell you. :D

Oooh! I have not heard anything of Phil Marshall's aside from the one song where Cook/Andy/Monty guested. (I have clicked on the link for Andrew's show a couple of times and then left it playing while I did other things, just to register as a listener, but I have yet to have time to actually listen. Though I really want to, because I lurve him. This Saturday might work well for that, actually) DAMMIT. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF. I'm with you--my ears are happy but my wallet is protesting! Hee. I will check them out, though. <3

Question re: living arrangements: I keep reading things that imply that Dave and Neal and Andy share a place in LA now (aside from the bus, I mean). Is that true, do you know? I just... for one thing, it seems like they could afford their own places at this point (Dave, at least), and also, I don't think the universe loves me quite THAT much, but do you know? And where does Jennie fit into that picture?

Semi-relatedly: I know there was an MWK history post in the works at some point over on tulsa_gangstas, but I don't ( ... )

ALLI ALLI YAY ALLI I LOVE YOU. I love both Kris and Adam's albums, so I can't wait to see how hers stack up. It's just crazy - since when are Idol albums actually good? (Sorry, DCook.)

And damn, that is a hella cheap price for the Farscape DVDs. So cheap, in fact, that I just ordered it and am now trying to cancel my Best Buy order. It was $69, which is pretty cheap itself, but they've been sending me emails saying that it's backordered. So...cheaper DVDs now, or wait indefinitely for slightly more expensive ones? I THINK THE ANSWER IS CLEAR. (There's a rumor that the Best Buy DVDs include The Peacekeeper Wars, but as I already own that separately, that's not exactly a tipping point.)

ALLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. ALLI ALLI ALLI ALLI ALLI. SHE'S MY HERO. *bounces*

Sorry, DCook.

AWWW. I like Cook's album, personally. Or at least I like it roughly as much as I like Analog Heart, so whatever issues I have with it, I can't really blame Jive. (I actually sort of blame Raine Maida, since he's the co-writer on my two least favorite songs on the album, but WHATEVER. WRITE WITH NEAL, COOK. DO IT. DOOOOO EEEET. Ahem.) Of course, I'm hardly objective on this issue, but even on first listen, before I loved him and wanted to marry him and have his babies and be togetha 4EVA, I never disliked it, I just thought it was on the generic side. MMV, of course. :) But anyway, I've been really happy with all three of the albums from this year, and I hope they are all madly successful!

And YAY for Farscape DVDs! I am so psyched! And I'm with you--I already have PKW, so that's hardly a dealbreaker. \o/

I don't DISLIKE Cook's album, in fact, I like a lot of the songs. But like you said, it's a tad generic. Far more generic than the man himself is, that's for sure. I think both Kris and Adam's albums have an originality to them that Cook's lacks for the most part.

Farscape DVDs!! Maybe now I will finally finish my rewatch.

*nodnodnod* I'll go along with that. It's a total mystery to me how Cook's awesome doesn't quite translate to his songwriting; lord knows it's not because he's not eloquent. But I think he just hasn't quite found his songwriting voice yet, so I have hope for the future! (And in the meantime, he should WRITE WITH NEAL. And Zac Maloy, for that matter, who is AWESOME.)
