Monday blues

It's actually been a good day today. But tomorrow I am going to the office for the first time since March and I am having a bit of a thing about it. It's very optional and doesn't mean I'm going back long term, even occasionally, but I do feel stressed. Lots of procedures, and public transport. And I have to get up super early to get in ahead of ( Read more... )

I felt like this before venturing on the train to come up and see my mum in June when she was ill last time - it's a strange feeling. Like on the one hand I was thinking I was silly to be nervous but on the other hand - just look at what's happening. I'm sure you'll be ok once you've done it but I think it's very natural to be wary. The trouble is we can control our own actions and behaviours but we have to trust other people to do the right thing too.

Yes, it's a strange feeling. I have obviously been out a bit, but very much under my control. Which the office isn't really. Definitely more live people in a space with me, who I know, than I've had for a long time.

Good luck tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fine and you know you've taken all the precautions needed, but that doesn't stop it being a 'thing'. I hope you get the work done and come back feeling settled and comfortable with how it all went.

Take care

Good luck with the office day. I’m sure it will go smoothly and you will be fine. I will wish you quiet public transport and no covidiots.

Belated thanks! It was okay, as you now know. Most people being very sensible, really.

I hope today is not/has not been too stressful in its actual manifestation.

Obsession with religion is very scary... unless it is a general, academic obsession with all of them *g*

Thank you. It was tiring, because of being cautious and all kinds of things changing since I was last there. Oddly, it was unsettling to see the very, very familiar surroundings in autumn, when I'd left them in early spring. It underlined how much time we've all lost this year.

Are people being responsible on public transport there? Masks are mandatory in Kansas City, MO but I've seen people wearing them under their chins and talking on the phone on buses as we're driving by so we're giving them a pass.

Mostly very responsible. There's that odd group that wear them under the nose, which is annoying, but they seem to be more rare now. People on phones that I saw were all talking through their masks (which is annoyingly loud, but otherwise preferable).
