Oh, this is turning into a trying week. But it's going to be a short one, I am off from Thursday, going to Karlsruhe and Strasbourg for some Christmas market bustle, and hopefully a lot of reading time. Meanwhile, meeting aggravation remains. Plus it's my birthday next week and *I have to travel for work* ugh ugh ugh. (It's fine, I'm going ( Read more... )

I'd take the long and easy prison as well. There's no way I'd survive a year among hardened criminals.

I mean, I want to know I can read a lot, study a lot and hopefully do some kind of useful work in this easy prison, or I will absolutely go mad. But there's just no way I can see myself making a role in some supermax jail to survive.

I'd hope to read a lot but have a feeling it would be difficult to concentrate in prison. I'm sure my anxiety would be through the roof all the time.

I think finding money in hidden places around the house would be fun. Since we bought this place from my mother-in-law, I'd consider it a small salary for the mister being her chauffeur, pill box filler, and grocery fetcher. He's glad to do it but it's wearing being on call all the time.

The prison question is just horrible.
I think I would go with finding the money, but only because the idea of being impersonated by someone else would be even more unsettling. When my M-i-L died and we cleared out her room we found money stashed in all over, plus in other places in the house that I didn't look into often.

I think we can all agree that we would Rather Not re the prison question, either way.

I'm impressed how many people have found money stashes in their houses. I once found £10 in a cupboard at a holiday rental and I was consumed with guilt after I snagged it. Maybe it's that that is putting me off!

I imagine your flat has increased a lot over 14 years but as you say getting something larger would be a ridiculous jump in price in your area.

Yes, I'm sure it has gone up a fair bit, but it's only real money if I don't need to live in it! In the days when I dreamed of moving to somewhere like Liege, where you could buy a place for 50k Euros, I might have been more excited, but it just means the next step up is so much more out of reach. :-/
