I'm absolutely certain the writers were making it us as they went along. I tend to look at the whole Mist thing as Chris just manipulating her (and we'll just ignore Chris macking with his charge a few episodes later). But I figured for this it would be fun to have Wyatt find that out. :)

I think there'd be a an acceptance of a certain amount of random screwing around in the bad!future, rather like what goes on in any wartime culture (think WWII), because people wouldn't know when they might get killed, so they take advantage of opportunities to live it up. Wouldn't change their feelings for each other, or their commitment.

I can't take it too seriously, because Chris is young and knows he may very well die on his quest, and may never see Bianca again. Plus, he may have come to various realizations about her, their relationship, what they both need/want, etc.

...which all sounds better than chalking it up to Writer Fuckery, which is what it was, lol.

I like your characterizations. I think Wyatt is quite capable of doing this, and then maybe casually killing off Bianca when she's no longer useful or something.
