Teaching today I had an experience that isn't common here, but happens periodically.  It occurred to me it would make an interesting topic to write about, though, since it's fairly outside most people's experiences ( Read more... )

What a fascinating insight to how people react in that situation. Certainly a topic worthy of further investigation.

I still can't get my head round the fact that you're working in Kabul...still working there! Not for us mere mortals.

4.5 years so far. Longest of anywhere I've lived, and it's.... Afghanistan.

Oh, it's got nothing to do with laughing at possible death, really. It's about the fact that laughter is a form of releasing (not relieving, but releasing) stress... And that is a very natural reaction to possible death in war.
