Just one thought. Seeing as you actually did better than you thought you would do, on just about everything, there's nothing actually wrong with giving yourself a bit of a pat on the back.

Yup, complacency is bad, and straining to do better is good - but don't ignore when you do well, just because you're not sure you've done well enough.

Here endeth the lesson ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty happy when I do better than expected.

But.....

Putting in no effort and getting a meh+ when I was expecting a meh isn't worth a pat on the back, imo. It's not so much I did better than expected, as much as I didn't do as *badly* as expected.... :)

When I get a C (or so) in Calc II next semester, I'm going to be *damn* happy about it, because I'll know I'll have worked my rear end off for it. ;)

But thank you for the thoughts. I know what you're going for, and I'm definitely not beating myself up over this, nor am I disinclined to blow my own trumpet when I feel I have worked to my capabilities. :P

I don't mean to be negative or try to push you down here, I just want to give you a fair warning, in case you didn't already know this... you will *not* get into UBC with the minimum GPA requirement, because 1000 people with 3.9's will have also applied. It's not about outrunning the bear, it's about outrunning the other guy...

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I am a professional tutor as of september. :D

Yeah, I knows the minimum won't cut it......

However, I believe they'll only be checking the most recent 30 credits, which means that they'll only be looking at the courses I take from Fall '07 onwards.

I appreciate the offer, and I might just take you up on it. ;)
