Ooh, I'm kinda worried for Aaron!! This is based on season four, right? I really don't think they'll be able to go past Giancarlo! Both would be super deserving and I definitely think it will come down to one of them :)
Also, I feel super validated in my television viewing choices! Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and Homeland are all at the top of my must watch list, and Boardwalk Empire is about to start here soon! I must do something about the Mad Men situation and get onto that too...!
Oh, I know. Sorry if that wasn't obvious in my comment. I meant actually WINNING it... I watched it live [thanks for the link!! it was fabulous!!] so I know they were both nominated, just sad that one of them will have to miss out on the actual winning part - and probably Aaron because it would be hard to go past Giancarlo... even I'd have to admit that.
I know! I just wish Giancarlo and Aaron didn't have to go up against each other! There needs to be another category for best villian or something! Or best psychologically screwed ex-junkie! Something to separate them so they can both win!
I knowwwwww. That's such a tough call and I almost wish Giancarlo would have been in the Guest Actor category... but I'm glad Mark Margolis is up there too, that's a pleasant and well-deserved surprise!
And I definitely think it'll come down to either Aaron or Giancarlo in their category, but that Giancarlo will get over the line. When is voting/the winners announced? And who actually votes? Is it industry awarded? [I actually know nothing about the Emmys except that BrBa have won lots of them!!].
Yay for Anna Gunn! Is this her first nomination for Skyler?
Anyway, I really want Bryan and Aaron to win again because they're just giving the two best performances on TV right now, so it's only fair. But I understand if voters think three Emmys is quite enough for Cranston and that this is Esponsito's only chance to win an Emmy for playing Gus. Though if the Supporting Actor goes to a recently killed off cast member, I'd choose Jared Harris myself.
More than anything I'd like the show to win Best Drama. I love Mad Men and all, but S5 was not their best season and BB S4 wipes the floor with it. That said, I think the biggest snub here is no Writing noms for Vince and his team. What the hell?
I definitely don't think things like "they've already won three so..." should come into it. It should definitely be performance based and, on that front, Bryan HAS to win again!! I actually think that Gus probably has it over Jesse for season four, and therefore Giancarlo over Aaron. But only just. I personally LOVED Jesse, especially at the very start of the season, but the hype around Giancarlo's Gus has been pretty phenomenal and I think he'll win it.
I also really want them to win for Best Drama. And yes, it's Anna's first nomination so, yay!
I don't really know how this all works though... who votes? Is it public or industry awarded?
eta: good god! I just read the voting instructions/rules/steps etc. What a convoluted process!!!
The Supporting Actor in a Drama Category is populated by a lot of performances that I love. I'd be happy for Aaron, Giancarlo, Jared Harris or Peter Dinklage to take it. For me, the best performance of those four was Aaron Paul. I don't think he'll win this year, but who knows. If he submits Problem Dog maybe...
Emmys have awarded some deserving shows over the years but they have also completely failed to acknowledge some of the greatest TV ever made - such as 'The Wire' and the new 'Battlestar Galactica' both of which never received any significant nominations (which is outrageous).
