Uh, except for the pilot for me. You know, shooting horses doesn't exactly endear a character to me. What stinks is because FOX ran them out of order, I already liked him. ~:/

It's Whedon love. I wasn't sure I would like it either, but one episode in, I was sold.

Nah it's not Dukes of Hazzard in Space. If they made "Space Family Stone" by Robert Heinlein into a series that would be though ;)

That's the very reason I don't like it. IIRC doesn't one of the characters use a very ordinary handgun?

From the episode I watched they all appear to be using normal guns. I remember thinking what still using bullets?

Thing is, it all makes sense (as He-who-is-God=Joss tells it). They're starting out planets that don't have the support structures in place to have supa-space-weapons and stuff, but we all (yeah 'k, replace all with tradesbods) know how to make things like basic guns and bullets and stuff and so that's why they're in use on the planets.
