Great review! I enjoyed this episode, though I felt it didn't add anything to the overall arc and was frustrated at the need to bring back Zod so late in the season (when his character had enough closure in s9). But I did like seeing the boys in their gladiator outfits. Justin did a good job of directing, even though a lot of people seemed to feel the episode was very "300-like". Never saw the movie so I wouldn't know myself.

I loved the Lois/Tess scenes too. It was so nice to see them working together, as well as Clark/Oliver. The boys teaming up and outsmarting the villain is what I've wanted from their relationship from the very start, or at least from s8 onwards.

*waves hand* Let me guess: anyone NOT guess that Ollie would leap into the beam with Clark to go to the Zone?
LOL So true. Ollie's just rash like that.

I was sad Ollie had been marked too and that he couldn't confide in Clark. I too understood why he shied away, though I'm surprised Clark didn't see anything.

Lois never giving up and Ollie’s loyalty were nice ( ... )

I've never seen the movie, either, but the 'look' of it was very 300.

This episode could be a lot of fun if re-written to pair off the girls and boys in our preferred pairings. ;) Even though Lois said she and Tess took alternate shifts, there were probably times when they held vigil together. And the boys were certainly focused on each other trying to stay alive.

Thanks so much for the links! I'll be checking them out! :)
