Might sound like a silly question but are you sure it's not on your server?
All my emails are in their various accounts on the server, if I delete them on my phone they are still on the actual account.
I don't see how Apple can authorise deleting emails from the server unless it's an apple email?
Sorry if this is totally unhelpful, I feel your distress.

I really hope you can track them down.

this is horrific! I've lost massive amounts of email in the past due to going on crazy clearing out of folders rampaging, but this sounds like something that shouldn't be able to happen without you putting in passwords and things like that.

omg i am so sorry to hear that this happened to you! but also thanks for a warning as I haven't updated my phone yet.

I hope that there is some way you can recover them! and that they get rid of this feature. it seems like something that really should not be able to be done from your phone and I think a lot of other people will potentially accidentally do the exact same thing you did. :c
