Mostly I'm looking for music that's new within the last year, but if you've unearthed some long-lost rarity, I'd be into that too. The only catch this year is that I'll be driving up with Andy, so there ( Read more... )

Chanticleer - Sing We Christmas
Chanticleer - John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises

These guys are 14-man a capella group from SF, and their voices are golden. They have other Christmas music, but these, I think, are the best.

Want some Japanese Christmas music????

My fave this year is Frou-Frou's 2004 album, Details. It's fantastic. I know they have a song on the Garden State soundtrack, but the whole album is amazing.

The short (recommended) list: 1. Crooked Still, 2. Elizabeth and the Catapult, 3. KT Tunstall, 4. The Duhks

New (to me) items of interest added to iTunes (in reverse chronological order):
-New Pornographers (old stuff, I didn't like them on the first take, this round is much better)
-Corinne Bailey Rae
-KT Tunstall
-Amadou & Mariam
-The Little Willies
-Uncle Earl
-The Trucks
-Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra
-Morcheeba - Dive Deep
-Feist
-The Hot Toddies
-Sia (vocalist from Zero 7)
-Elizabeth and the Catapult
-The Duhks (good canadian alterna-folk)
-Requiem For A Dream - Remixed
-Lemon Jelly
-Télépopmusik
-Imogen Heap
-Shannon Wright
-Crooked Still (best bluegrass I've ever heard)

I'm not sure I qualify as with it (I don't listen to the radio, been hanging out with metalheads...) anymore, and alot of good stuff has already been said....

But there are few 2007 releases I've been digging alot that I don't see:

-Two Gallants - Self Titled
-Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
-The Pipettes - We Are the Pipettes (uk 2006, US 2007 release)
-Maria Taylor - Lynn Teeter Flower (although I think 11:11 is a better record, I still dig it.)

Older stuff I rediscovered in 2007:
-The Hold Steady - Separation Sunday
