Finished!

Just finished the season finale and wow, I am nervous all over again about how they get out of that graveyard!!

But what really hit me hard again was that Dean chose not to shoot Jack even though Jack was fully accepting that he should die for his mistakes, and Dean made his choice without Sam saying anything. And then when Chuck offered to ( Read more... )

The free will question is so valid - I mean we know the timeline and each of the boys' and other characters lives have been interfered with but how many choices have been manipulated too?

It has the potential to be fascinating...and also to be a horrible mess...

The whole free will argument is incredibly depressing to me. Does that invalidate the past 14 seasons? Are we supposed to look back at it all and realize the game was rigged from the jump?

But Jack is a sweet little piece of nougat, so there's that.

I can't figure out how they are going to handle the free will argument in such a way that Sam and Dean still get credit for being team free will--I'm with you in worrying that they are going to invalidate everything previous and I don't want that!

I strongly agree with everything you've said here. The way the Dean & Jack showdown ultimately played out did a lot to make me retroactively feel better about some of the choices in the previous episodes. That whole scene is so powerful and so painful.

And in a way his behavior--doing the wrong thing while trying to do the right thing--is the same path that both Sam and Dean have taken trips down over the years, so that made me especially empathetic toward him.
That is an EXCELLENT point!

I'll be really interested to see what we find out about Chuck's hand in what's come before. I too hope they don't go TOO far in his manipulations, but if they strike the right balance it could be really fascinating.

I'm so excited for the start of the season, too!

I hope they write it so that even though Chuck was manipulating them, Sam and Dean still made choices that keep them as heroes!
