Look around. Local screening.

Colony Theatre: "Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Price," Sunday, November 13th at 2:00.

Others, if any, will be mentioned in the movie section of the Independent, so pick up new ones on Wednesday and read.

It's been 2 years for me. YAHOO!!!

Luckily they have kept Walmart out of the areas of Seattle where there are lots of indie businesses. I think there is one in the whole city and hell, nobody can tell me where it is. Yet another reason I love it here.

Target's been quietly giving their pharmacists the ability to not prescribe birth control pills.

AAAAAAARGH!!! My opinion? If a pharmacist has a problem with prescribing a certain thing, then they should consider another line of work.

Yeah, it's maddening. You can't swing a cat without hitting a company that has heinous business standards :)

Cat swinging? Sounds like fun to me. By the way I love your Maus icon!

Walmart's fairly new to this area, so there are a few stores around, but not a lot. I went in there once to see what the fuss was about. I didn't like the store at all, actually so I've always stayed away from it. Then when I read in the paper all the stuff about them, it just gave me an even stronger reason not to go there.

Oh, they're chaotic and nerve-wracking to me. So's Kmart. Only Target, funnily enough (since I had such a shitty experience working nights there), is a decent shopping experience, out of the three major Big Box stores I've encountered.

I can't wait to read all of this! (About to go to work, so I'm answering quickly...)

It was kinda funny, on my Fiends page, there was a post from another guy, hdiandrew, who is boycotting Target. Apparantly they have pharmacists who won't fill prescriptions if they don't want to - most notably birth control medications. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with him as I haven't read the link he gave entirely yet or other stuff to corroborate, but I thought you'd like to see his post:

PS: D'oh! Didn't see til I typed all this that Chaptal said the same below. It's still valid, both of you go read this! :) Or anyone else, it's a party! :)

An Eckerd pharmacist famously refused to fill a woman's birth control prescription last year. Soon, there will be nowhere left to shop, if I decide to boycott all the places that have horrible policies. :(
