TVD - 4x17: Because the night belongs to ladies

Short reaction post, because I am not quite sure how I feel about this episode. Sort of like after I take Sudafed to help kick the monster cold I've had all week and am left lying in bed going:  "My arms feel bubbly. Do I like it? Do I hate it? Do I think maybe they are birds?" (Note to self: stop taking Sudafed and hallucinating).

I SO NEEDED DAMON TO FUCK THIS UP AND HE DID. I am pleased. Of course now I want to marathon the whole season again. Wtf is my life?

Not sure about Bonnie or what they're gonna make of the amnesia. This is very confusing.

I had Damon thoughts, but then I forgot because I'm sleepy. Sad.

Terrific! Is the answer you are looking for.

I always like seeing Damon fail, although I'm not getting as much of a sense as to why he is currently failing so spectacuarly as the show usually gives us. I just want to pull him out into the hallway and go "What is going on with you, sir? Are there problems at home? Let's go to the guidance counselor."

Will you guys judge me if I say that I am mostly bummed because I kept expecting for Damon to get his emotional ass kicked and then he didn't, really? Don't get me wrong, I am supremely pleased that Elena knew he was lying the whole time, and that he knew she was lying pretty much the whole time, because that's what they do, they see each other.
Yeah, that makes sense. Of course, I love that Damon got put in his place by the end, but there wasn’t much heart in any of the D/E stuff. Which makes sense, because Elena is ~emotionless and Damon is - a tool - but it was a far cry from their “us against the world” roadtrip at the end of last episode.

It's starting to kind of seem like you all are just looking for excuses to take away her right to make decisions/tell you things you don't want to hear #justsaying #ifthejerkpantsfit
Preach it ‘til the cows go home.

Elena and Rebekah are my new misandrist idols. End.

Klaus and Stefan stood around going derrrrrrrrrr. This is such an accurate summary of their roles on the show though ( ... )

Yes, it feels like they are both playing it really cool. Elena makes sense; Damon is just being a stupid weirdo.

This is such an accurate summary of their roles on the show though.

I bet the show would still work if you just replaced all of their dialogue with "Derr de derr der derr." I will conduct this experiment one day.

I was super WTF after watching the episode but your point about him disengaging further has just switched on a lightbulb in my head, I think.Oh good. I sort of just threw that out there, but upon re-watch, I am feeling better about it. There's that interesting scene where he and Elena are feeding on the girl and he sort of participates but then leaves to go search Will's room, but there's that weird moment where you can tell that he kind of wants to get sucked in and almost does but then detaches and goes back to the stupid mission of curing Elena. He seems to have really just bought into the company line that this is not Elena and the real Elena would ( ... )

The worst part of this episode for me was the whole Damon/Lexi thing. Oh, she made you feel guilty so you killed her? Really? How does that NOT make you feel even more guilty? Not to mention Lexi is boring as fuck and was going to kill Care's mom. When I think about it, Lexi and Stephan have so much in common when it comes to "fixing" people ( ... )

Ha, I know. Damon logic. I wish they would just leave the things Damon has done in the past alone and stop trying to put new spins on them, because it just ultimately ends in weird head-scratch moments.

Lol at Klaus for blowing the opportunity he had to get closer to Caroline because of his ego getting in the way.

He's the most emotionally immature of the whole bunch, which is saying a lot. And I really like your dialogue. Pretty spot on. I'm guessing he is hallucinating, which will be fun!

I've seen Beklena and Elebekah. Both sound like weird zoo animals, tbh.
