I thought the trailers looked completely horrible and misogynistic, and everything I've heard about it (and most comments I've read have been by people who liked it-largely people who also hated SWATH, which I liked a lot) convinced me that was the case. And while I like Gemma and Famke a lot (and will likely eventually watch it for them and because I like more fairytale movies than not, and I'll be perfectly happy to be proven wrong if that ends up being the case) I found Renner completely forgettable in Thor, and only a little better in The Avengers, and it was pretty clearly his show. (One day, I will manage to be gaga over the same actor as the rest of fandom. Or, for that matter, care about the fandom that's the latest darling

You were not wrong. Just. What the fuck, movie-makers. Gemma and Famke were great, Famke especially-- she had a lot more scope for room, I think, because she wasn't constrained as much by having to be a heroine and yet do some fairly awful things. I think that Gemma and Renner played off each other brilliantly but didn't have a whole lot of scope when not acting opposite each other, and I think that Gemma dealt heroically with a pretty shitty script.
The show is... actually more Gemma's than Renner's, I think, or at least story-wise Gretel is more important. However, Renner does more of the acting; Gemma was more passive due to, again, a shitty script.
But yeah. I don't recommend it at all. There's maybe six amusing scenes (all involving both Gemma and Renner) and the rest is just gross.
eta: Wait, I tell a lie, Famke is genuinely scary a couple of times.
