[Zhaneel's voice seems ever tentative when she speaks over the Net these days, but then she hadn't really made any point of visiting with anyone that wasn't Kevas or her capybara. She was dead set on finding some suicidal way to prove herself to the other residents of Vertiline, but nothing had really come up as of yet and she wanted something

[Zhaneel pauses in the act of loading her crossbow, ears flattening as she looks at her foreleg mounted communicator. Her ear tufts flatten halfway back and she contemplates no responding at all. In the end, however, she can't not respond.]

There are other ways to defend oneself than talon or beak; sometimes distance makes all the difference ..

[Facial feathers rise and flatten, nares flushing slightly as she fights to accept the eagerness in Lucas' voice. She did ask, however .. who was she to deny anyone that might want to accept?]

I doubt you will get the chance again .. Not many archery gifted gryphons about Vertiline ..

[Kevas doesn't answer but he does show up at the archery range. He's still not sure how well Zhaneel is handling all of this. Not to mention that if anyone shows up feeling like they want a little payback, Kevas wants to be there to..."deter" them.

For now Kevas will just remain quiet and watch, not wanting to interrupt her.]

[An ear tuft flicks in his general direction, noting his presence and quite happy for it. She is not foolish and knows that putting herself out in the face of everyone puts her at risk after her attacks.

Having her hulking troll-brother on hand is quite settling for the young gryphon.]

[Not recognizing the voice, as she has never really spoken to Mimmi in person .. and really, the night of the attacks it was just screams .. How would she know it was her?! :D Zhaneel perks at the interested voice and bobs her head, whether it can be seen or not.]

[And practice buddy be had .. right there in front of you, Mimmi! :D Zhaneel is reared up on her hind paws, actually standing up at a much taller height than normal. She's seeing if she can maintain her aim like this instead of merely seated on her haunches.

[Chrono's out on his daily walk when he passes by the archery grounds. When he spots Zhaneel he doesn't hesitant to grab his daggers and fall into a stance.]

[Zhaneel knows that sound .. yes she knows that sound all to well. She pauses in the act of drawing back the crossbow, sitting up on her haunches as she does so. Her wide golden gaze turns and falls on Chrono and her ear tufts flatten back against her skull.

As shocked as he is to see a gryphon using a bow, she is shocked to see one of the persons she remembers attacking. She doesn't look like she's going to defend herself, Chrono .. in fact, it looks as though she is lowering the crossbow entirely.

Her voice is soft as she speaks, looking smaller and smaller with every word as she nearly flattens to the ground, wings fanned partially open.]

I remember you .. [Her pupils have practically swallowed her eyes. Does this look like the fiercesome and unforgiving beast that attacked you, Chrono?]

Chrono doesn't relax or lower his weapons, but the animal's behavior and speech--the fact that it can speak at all--makes him waver.]
