I really enjoy meeting people in other parts of the country, especially those who are passionate about something. This man loved his chess! I can imagine he shows up daily to trounce someone.
Ya, just like being in Germany! Although, I saw no lederhosen...
My husband's grandfather was a Russian German who immigrated here in 1917. He married the daughter of a couple of German immigrants. My husband is the product of two lines of Germans. Hard working, perfectionist people.
That explains my fair children. Their Daddy's German genes whooped up on their Mama's Choctaw ones (my grandmother was full-blooded Indian).
Bojojr didn't end up paying nearly that much after his discussion with the ticket agent and with us being split and not being picky about the time or night. Single seats in a theater are hard to sell. Still this was at Christmas, and all the shows were demanding premium prices. I had even checked ebay, and they were going for a thousand dollars there! That's crazy, and I had sadly told the kids we wouldn't get to see Wicked, which was the one show the girls and I really wanted to see. Thank goodness my son was persistent. Christmas is not a good time of year to get discount tickets in New York. Now that I've been to NYC at Christmas, I can mark that off the bucket list. Any future trips will be in warmer weather!
I always enjoy meeting people from a different area who love the place they live. Chess players in a park are adorable.
There's a place here in town where chess players gather. When Jedi was playing in tournaments and taking lessons we'd sometimes go there. It's definitely a world unto itself like any other sport. I love to watch although I'm not good enough to play anyone whose had even one lone lesson, especially when they use the clock. I just don't think that quickly.

Speaking of which, my dad had a pair when he was little. My grandparents moved to the states from Germany in 1954 and he was born here a year later.

And that explains your fairness, too.
