Webster's reaction to being shot: Most ridiculous reaction EVER.

Out of all the episodes, this is most definitely my least favourite. The whole Winters-is-remembering thing really irks me. OMG. We get it. He's remembering. He's traumatised from shooting a child. The cinematography/editing/directing really annoys me as well. All the unnecessary close-ups and fades make me roll my eyes ( ... )

(That said, I've been reading Bill and Babe's book recently, and Bill claims the Brits used to stop in the middle of battle for tea and crumpets. So maybe we really were like that back in the 40s. To be honest, if that's true, I'm actually a little proud. Recognising the importance of a good cuppa is what made our nation great, dammit.)

It's too late for me to give any real, intelligent in-put at the moment because my eyeballs are so sleep deprived, but i completely agree about a good cuppa. It's so British and I love it. I wonder if the German's ever had a laugh if they caught sight of a bunch of Brit's stoping to drink tea. I know I would have and apparently, Germans have a good sense of humour :)

Nothing like a good cuppa. I'm a Brit but live in Aus. and none of the Aussies seem to understand my need, love and urge for tea.

I've been reading The Victors by Ambrose recently and learned that early on in WW2 when the Germans and Brits were in North Africa the war used to shut down at 17:00 every day and the Brits would brew their tea, the Germans their coffee. Seems very civilised to me. It even mentions in the book that a German corporal stole a supply truck from the Brits at 18:00 and his CO told him to take it back as it was after 17:00. Although, once the Brits found out, they stole two German supply trucks the next night.

2. Most Ridiculous Ever. He'd get a superlative for that for sure.
3. They weren't really talking about coffee and bacon sandwiches either. ;)
4. What is the purpose of the boy on the train? Or what was Tom Hanks thinking directing it? Because while I know what the point is supposed to be, why it did come across so...awkward and sexual? Because even RL Winters didn't get it.

1. I have no idea what the producers were trying to say in this episode. That even the strongest person can break down? I really have no idea. I agree with smarties. It is a hard episode to watch, defiantly not a favourite of mine, although I like they move Winters away from the tough facade. Although he is kind of annoying when he wrangles Moose about the company's mission. There's protective and then there's obsessive. I guess it can be sweet too It really depends on the mood I'm in when I watch it. And yes the boy on the train is really weird. I guess he reminds Winters of the boy he shot or some kind of flashback. I don't know what the producers were going at, maybe just trying to get into 1940s style ( ... )

Okay, to be honest, I really didn't make many notes apart from putting 'SKINNNYYYYY' (yes, in capital letters) every time I noticed his adorable little face.

Two things about Moose Heyliger, though:
- It's a shame it's not made clearer that most people actually knew Moose already, as he was at one point part of Easy before being moved to HQ. He's not an outsider, but the series doesn't tell us that.
- I think some lines had to be cut here, because there's a bit where Winters looks at Harry and Harry looks guilty and we're not really told why. The reason is that Harry was being absent-minded and forgot to tell the sentry Dick and Moose would be coming by, and that sort of contributed to Moose getting shot, but I hadn't got any idea about all that until I read it; it just seems strange that we have a bit of an implication but no explanation.

Also, apropos of very little, I have decided that there needs to be more love for Strayer. Not sure why, I just found myself growing fond of him.
