She must choose between her gentle outlander companion Kameakahoa and wild-eyed poet Chilgei, the love of her youth.  And to save her kingdom, she must fight the Awakener, who makes the dead

Me too! I did the same thing in 2003, too--I just winged it. I did finish, and it wasn't too bad, but I'd like to rewrite it because I love the character and the world, and I'm better now. (And incidentally, that character's name was Grey with an e, just like in your title!)

Ooh. I really, really like the idea of people turning to stone when they die and the aliveness of the land.

And I truly enjoyed the world of Grey Ash Woman. I still remember how reading the first chapter made me feel.

I'm almost back to fighting form now, so if you ever need another pair of eyes...
