Figure Drawing and lung butter

So, I went to my first figure drawing class in 5 years last night with reynardin (thanks for the lift, btw!), faunalia and minouette. I had fun despite being under the weather and I think that everyone else did too (especially f. who was really hepped up on a peppermint mocha). JRL has promised to come along next week and I think that I'll try and coax Sabina in too, as she ( Read more... )

Oh aren't you brave to share. Funny how I'm not asked if I am 14 to see this (maybe it's just a matter of being logged in?). I thought you captured a lot very quickly, which is quite something when both sick and post-work. I noticed your approach was quite different than mine (I think you work with line and I worked with shapes or something). I didn't dare attempt the hands, but I kept trying to get her feet right. I also thought I'd try different media next time. Anyway, it was great to see my friends and get some practice in, and I was glad it was low key. I was surprised at the demographics of participants (both the age and the gender distribution seemed somehow unexpected).

Funny, to me it is grocery shopping that is the ultimate in futility; one ALWAYS has to go back for more.

TAKE CARE. That's an order.

It's not bravery, it's a witness to (possible) improvement: I hope to be able to see a change in the drawings over time, and its unlikely that I'll pull out reams of newsprint to achieve a similar self-critique. There's also less smudging involved this way....

It's been a very long time since we all sat down and drew the same thing together and I find it amazing how very different we ALL are in our approaches. Was it so back in high school? I don't remember it being so...marked. Anyway, I look forward to more Friday night drawing sessions :)

The 'geek' boys in the class threw me off considerably. weird. maybe they thought that it would be a good way to meet chicks.

Grocery shopping is high on my futility list too - which is why I can't understand f. and r.'s need to shop while on vacation.

I am under the Beard's medical care - with liberal amounts of honeyed tea and healthy things to eat - I'll be fine (or fat) soon enough.

Oh, I see. Actually I find LJ quite useful for recording the artwork I make too. I tend to forgot what I made when, and it imposes causality upon my work (sorry for science-speak, I've been editing the albatross). I'm just a bit shy about life drawing hence the bravery comment ( ... )

I see yer point (I mused on it briefly the first time that I called him 'the Beard') but it's just more convenient than 'The Mysterious Beard', and slightly more humorous than 'MB'. That's all.

I am neither a latent homosexual nor male. just to clear that up...
