An answer to a lovely little piece I read a while back, with many thanks to the author. It takes place in between Silence in Solitude and The Empress of Earth.
Oh, thank you! I'm glad you like it, since it's all your fault - well, yours and Penknife's. :-) It was so much fun to go back to them, to be able to take the time with the characters that I didn't know how to do years ago... For the first time in in a long time, I really want to go back to them, and for the first time ever, I'm beginning to see *how*. I think I have to write the prequel/New Science story first, mind you, not to mention a few other things, but I think it will happen. And I owe you big time for that - both of you!

You know this is so cool, don't you? I can't imagine how cool. To love a book and get the author to write missing scenes for it? Is just surreally awesome.
If there's more of them, I would so love to see it come to fruition. They're a fascinating trio, and I could never get tired of them!
I've said for years that I couldn't see how to do more because - well, they'd found Earth, they'd gotten together, and what more was there? But now I'm thinking there's the possibility of reviving (recreating? creating a new version of) the compound Old/New Science that almost happened. And wouldn't it be just like Denis to stumble into it?

It would be just like Denis to stumble into it! Oh dear. With many, many complications ensuing. Julie would be enthralled by the possibilities, and Aili....
