Ode to Popcorn

Apparently, homemade popcorn is just slightly more difficult to make than boiled water. I'd rate it's difficulty level at just under microwave popcorn. I'm slightly embarrassed that it took me 24 years to realize this

Brandy has one of those things and I got my FIRST taste of homemade popcorn just a few days ago. It is a remarkable thing to behold. SO much better than microwave popcorn but yes, as you noted, completely different from movie theater popcorn. I'm going to make another comparison here: Movie theater popcorn is to microwave popcorn is to homemade popcorn what a great thrilling totally mindless horror movie is to a really shitty kate hudson romantic comedy is to a smart period drama you both viscerally enjoy and can own up to enjoying without feeling embarassed. I like your cumin/garlic powder suggestions, and will attempt these in the near future. Like tonight, with Atonement and shiner bock.
